Why is it useful, who would benefit from it, how should it work?
Automatically-graded code quizzes would be a great addition for software development training courses hosted on LearnDot. Students would be asked to write a small snippet of code, and then that code could be checked and determined if it was right or not. Ideally, students could get some feedback or suggestions on what they might be doing wrong.
On the most basic level, maybe the quiz just checks the text of the student's answer against the correct answer created by the other. On a more advanced level, it might actually try to execute the code to determine if it's correct or not.
This feature is something that e-learning platforms like Udemy and Codeschool are doing - and would be a great feature to test how well students are understanding the concepts, as well as help them cement the concepts through actually practicing them. It was also be great feedback for the course author to see where people are getting hung up.
Programmr is service for creating code quizzes, and has an API that can be used to execute code, and provide granular feedback.
